Ojasvi Kesh Tailam
Ayurvedic Hair Oil · 100 ml
Thinning hair is rarely sudden. It shows up gradually — a little more in the brush, a little less weight in the ponytail. Ojasvi was formulated for exactly that stage, when hair needs strengthening rather than rescuing.
How it's made
Ojasvi is prepared using Sneha Paka, the classical Ayurvedic method for medicated oils. Whole hibiscus blooms are first steeped into fresh coconut milk and almond milk. That infused milk is then slow-simmered into cold-pressed coconut oil over a low flame for hours, stirred continuously until all the moisture has evaporated and only the oil remains, carrying the herbs with it.
Milk is slower and costlier to work with than water, but it draws out compounds water cannot and gives the finished oil a lighter, more absorbent feel. Jatamansi is added in the final stage, when the heat has dropped, so its delicate constituents aren't lost. The oil is then rested, filtered through fine muslin, and bottled.
Each batch takes a full day. We make them small.
What's inside, and what it does
Bhringraj — known in Ayurveda as Keshraj, the king of hair. Traditionally used to reduce hair fall and support the follicle at the root.
Amla — rich in vitamin C and naturally astringent. Strengthens the strand and supports scalp health.
Hibiscus — steeped into the milk itself rather than added at the end. Conditions the hair shaft for softness, slip, and natural shine.
Brahmi — cooling and calming. Soothes an irritated or flaking scalp and helps rebalance it over time.
Jatamansi — a rare Himalayan root gathered between 3,000 and 5,000 metres, documented in the Charaka Samhita for hair and scalp health, and studied for its effect on the hair growth cycle. Rarely used in commercial hair oils because of its cost.
Cold-pressed coconut oil, coconut milk, almond milk — the base. Light enough to absorb, rich enough to nourish.
How to use
Warm a small amount between your palms. Part the hair in sections and massage into the scalp with your fingertips for three to five minutes, then work the remainder through the lengths. Leave for at least an hour, or overnight for a deeper treatment. Wash out with a mild shampoo.
Use two to three times a week. Most people notice softness and reduced breakage within a few weeks; changes in density take longer and depend on consistency.
Good to know
No mineral oil, silicones, synthetic fragrance, or preservatives. Suitable for all hair types. Handcrafted in small batches. Store away from direct sunlight.
Patch test before first use. Discontinue if irritation occurs.
